CNC machining excels in producing customized components, especially those with intricate
geometries and high precision requirements. While it demonstrates excellent performance in
single tasks and low-to-medium volume manufacturing (up to 1,000 parts) with its commendable
repeatability, it does come with more design limitations when compared to 3D printing, thanks in
part to its subtractive manufacturing principles.
Product Details
The primary materials employed in the CNC machining process are predominantly metals.
These metals encompass alloy steel, carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum, copper,
magnesium, and zinc.
However, CNC machining is not limited to metals alone; it is also capable of machining plastic
parts and working with various materials, including ceramics, composites, thermoplastics, and
thermosets.
Here is a comprehensive overview of the most popular materials
The Most Popular Materials | |
Material | Characteristics |
Aluminum 6061 | Good strength-to-weight ratio, excellent machinability, low hardness |
Stainless Steel 304 | Excellent mechanical properties, resistant to corrosion & acid, relatively difficult to machine |
Brass C360 | High ductility, excellent machinability, good corrosion resistance |
Copper | Excellent thermal and electrical conductivity |
Titanium | Excellent strength to weight ratio, used in aerospace, automotive and medical industries. |
ABS | Excellent impact resistance, good mechanical properties, susceptible to solvents |
Nylon (PA6 & PA66) | Excellent mechanical properties, high toughness, poor moisture resistance |
POM (Delrin) | High stiffness, excellent thermal & electrical properties, relatively brittle |

FAQ's
1. What type of design files does We accept for quoting?
To ensure accuracy and efficiency in quoting, we exclusively welcome 3D CAD files in STL, STEP,
or IGES format. For 2D drawings with reference dimensions, kindly provide them in PDF format.
Complete manufacturing information must be included in the technical documentation for a thorough
assessment. Please note that informal communication via Whatsapp, email, etc., will not be
acknowledged for manufacturing purposes.
2. How long does a quotation take?
Our usual practice is to provide a response to Requests for Quotation (RFQ) within a few days
of receiving them. If, for any reason, there is a delay in the quotation process, we will notify you
at the earliest opportunity.
3. What are the minimum and maximum dimensions you can machine?
Our CNC machining services cover a range of processes, including milling (3-axis, 3+2-axis,
and 5-axis) and turning. In 3/3+2-axis CNC milling, we can machine parts with dimensions up to
2000 x 1500 x 200 mm (78.7 x 59.0 x 7.8 in.).
For 5-axis milling, the maximum part size is 650 x 650 x 300 mm (25.5 x 25.5 x 11.8 in.).
CNC turning allows for a maximum diameter of 431 mm (17 in.) and a length of 990 mm (39 in.).
When considering smaller parts, we recommend a minimum size of around 10 x 10 x 10 mm
(0.39 x 0.39 x 0.39 in.), with feature dimensions not going below 0.5 mm.
It's important to note that our platform has a maximum part size limitation of 1000 mm (39 in.).
For larger requirements, please reach out to our sales team for personalized assistance.
4. What cosmetic standards do you guarantee?
Ensuring high-quality finishes, all CNC machined parts undergo standard deburring and edge-breaking
procedures. Critical edges requiring a sharp finish must be explicitly highlighted in technical drawings.
Surfaces are guaranteed to be free from defects such as scratches, dents, stains, blemishes, hanging
marks, and minor imperfections. Specifically, critical surfaces (primary (a) side, per technical drawings)
will be devoid of mill steps and other marks. On the secondary (b) side, minor hanging marks and up
to 2 minor defects are considered acceptable.
To further enhance surface quality, visual appeal, and wear resistance, a variety of post-processing
and finishing methods can be applied to CNC machined parts.
